RPM = Reflect, Play, Meditate

RPM- is exactly what it sounds like, referencing the speed at which the vinyl record you’re listening to is supposed to rotate on the turntable you’re using. In an old fashioned turn table there was a needle that when touched to a spinning record played music. If the needle pushed too hard the record would not play, too light and the needle would skip over the grooves and scratch the record. Balanced flow will not only be a flow for finding balance between effort and ease, flexibility and strength but also exploring other helpful tools that you might find useful in creating a balanced life. This will be a playful class with many tools offered in addition to physical poses – meditation, singing bowls, chakra, philosophy, reiki, essential oils,… the possibilities are endless. Learn to flow to the beat of your own drum with Karen.

Play

Yoga for Anxiety

Do you suffer from anxiety? Whether it’s your everyday stress, an anxiety disorder, or comes in the form of panic attacks, the holistic approach of yoga can help. This class is also for anyone looking for techniques to help with everyday stresses. On the yoga mat we can feel all warm and fuzzy, then in the outside world – life happens. This class will focus on skills for on and off the mat.

How Yoga Can Help with Stress & Anxiety

Yoga can give you tools to manage stress, learn helpful breathing techniques, release tension in the physical body, and make room for mindful self-reflection. Yoga also can provide a sense of community, coming together to learn tools for improving our lives.

Safe Space

Though it is impossible for someone else to create safe space for another person at Bee You we strive to make our practice space a nurturing place for self reflection. We set the class up to minimize stress and give many options throughout class for you to adjust for your own comfort. The yoga teacher does not move about through class. You will not be “singled out” in class and there is a no touch policy for adjustments. At the end of class there is an option for a short essential oil massage that you can discretely opt out of should you prefer not to be touched. There are props, yoga mats and anything you may need ready for your use. All you need to do is show up with comfortable clothing to move in.

Weekly Donation Based Meditation Sangha

Learn how to quiet the buzzing in your mind! This weekly gathering has transformed to include a variety of meditation styles and teachers. Gong bath, singing bowls, mindfulness, breath awareness, or a mixture! Join us and find the style that works best for you. Inspirational readings and a little community circle after practice.

What is a sangha? Thich Nhat Hanh explains that sangha is more than a community, it’s a deep spiritual practice. A sangha is a community of friends practicing together in order to bring about & to maintain awareness. The essence of a sangha is awareness, understanding, acceptance, harmony and love.

“Our civilization, our culture, has been characterized by individualism. The individual wants to be free from the society, from the family. The individual does not think he or she needs to take refuge in the family or in the society, and thinks that he or she can be happy without a sangha. That is why we do not have solidity, we do not have harmony, we do not have the communication that we so need.
The practice is, therefore, to grow some roots. The sangha is not a place to hide in order to avoid your responsibilities. The sangha is a place to practice for the transformation and the healing of self and society. When you are strong, you can be there in order to help society. Work to take refuge in the sangha so that you can restore your strength, your understanding, your compassion, your confidence. And then in turn you can use that strength, understanding and compassion to rebuild your family and society, to restore communication and harmony.”

Y 12SR – Yoga for Recovery

When we talk of addiction substance or alcohol is often the focus. Addiction can come in many forms – shopping, gambling, eating, negative thought patterns. Y12SR is open to anyone. No yoga experience required! “Yoga of 12-Step Recovery offers a rich and powerful framework for addiction recovery and relapse prevention.

Y12SR “connects the dots” between the ancient wisdom of yoga, the practical tools of 12-step programs, and the latest research on trauma healing and neurobiology. As part of a holistic recovery program, it works in tandem with traditional treatment to address the physical, mental and spiritual disease of addiction. The program serves people recovering from all manifestations of addiction, from behavioral addictions to substance abuse – creating a safe place on the mat where trauma can be released. It also supports those who are impacted by a loved one’s addiction. Weekly meetings led by certified Y12SR leaders are available in community settings across the United States. Y12SR is also offered as an adjunctive therapy in a growing number of addiction recovery treatment centers.

What is Y12SR? Modeled from the meetings of 12-step addiction recovery programs, Y12SR combines the structure of a 12-step meeting with the practices and philosophies of yoga. The program was created by Nikki Myers in 2003 and is now offered throughout the country and internationally.Y12SR is a relapse prevention program designed to support and offer healing to addicts and persons affected by addiction. Y12SR meetings are open to the community and all are welcome to attend—one does not need to currently be attending a 12-step program or practice yoga to participate. What is Y12SR NOT? Y12SR is not a 12-step program, nor does it replace 12-step meetings or any addiction recovery program.

What can participants expect? Each meeting includes a group-sharing circle preceded or followed by an intentional, themed yoga class. This combination of yoga with the 12-step model empowers us to approach the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges of addiction. Each student is welcome to speak and share during the sharing circle, but nobody is required or pressured to do so. The facilitator may incorporate meditation or breathing exercises, all of which will be guided with thoughtful instruction. The yoga practice is designed for all levels.

Please wear comfortable clothes, and arrive with an open heart and open mind.” – http://y12sr.com/about/

Hi I’m Shelly, I’m a certified yoga teacher & Y12SR leader. I am not a guru or the boss. Yoga does not have hierarchy it is about people coming together to learn from each other on their journey. Everything we do in Y12SR is a suggestion for you to explore. Yoga philosophy is ancient, over 5000 years old. It has taken many translations & can be intimidating to start. It is important to remember that though the philosophy is ancient most of the poses were developed in the last 100 years. Yoga is not about the poses. Yoga literally means union. Union of body & mind, body & breath, to connect with your true self, with your higher power, or simply Union of all of our parts of ourselves including the parts of us that may still generate emotions of shame. The purpose of practicing yoga can be different for each individual & can change from day to day. It is important to remember the poses are simply one of the tools we use to explore and learn. We move and breath to focus on reconnecting with our physical body. This is just another tool we use to bring us into the present moment. Much of human suffering can be linked to a disconnection to present moment. It is also important to remember that Y12SR is just a tool, it is not a replacement for traditional therapies or 12 step programs, however it is most effective when used together with other tools you are finding useful in your journey.

Yoga for Fitness – Sadie Nardini’s Yoga Shred Fusion

Sadie spent 20 years in anatomy nerd land, so that you can get better, safer results from your yoga and fitness–in less time!

She traveled the world learning and instructing millions of teachers and students alike how to get twice the benefits from every moment on the mat.

Her signature styles of anatomy-enhanced yoga (Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga®) and HIIT + Yoga fitness workouts (The Yoga Shred®) are in demand all over the world because they help you get stronger more safely, without wasting any more time or energy.

Yoga

Yoga is done more slowly. It activates slow-twitch muscle fibers, which give us longer holding power and endurance-based strength. It helps practitioners gain balance, and holistic flexibility in muscles and joints. Yoga can be detoxifying due to inversions, whole body movements and longer exhales. It teaches people mindful living techniques too, so they can more easily center, ground, and slow down when life becomes chaotic.

HIIT

HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training, is done at a more fierce pace. It activates fast-twitch muscle fiber activation, which yoga alone doesn’t do. HIIT is what defines, tightens, lifts and sculpts your muscles. HIIT gets the heart rate up higher than yoga can, in specific ways to optimize cardio, or how you intake and process oxygen. HIIT also can raise your metabolism up to 15% and burn calories and fat for 48 straight hours!

It will help you fall in love with your workout, break through emotional and physical barriers, and transform your body.

Buti yoga is a physically-demanding sweat session. Yet, it’s approachable for all-levels. Just as in our regular yoga classes, you’ll begin where you are and grow at your own pace.
