What Makes Bee You Different?
We love yoga and have made it a life long practice. All of our teachers personally practice what they teach and many have done so for decades. If you are looking to just move with momentum and not build strength as well as flexibility, we may not be the studio for you. We focus on sustainable yoga. We want you to be able to practice for life so we are constantly learning and updating our teaching to include modern anatomy knowledge. Our classes are designed for joint health and protection, spinal safety and to avoid repetitive strain injuries. We do not teach headstands, shoulder stands or anything weight bearing on the cervical vertebra. We want our students to retain, and even improve, the natural curves and health of their spine. We learn about spinal safety and joint health so you don’t have to worry about it. This is not to say we only offer slow yoga, many of our classes are a challenging workout. We understand the benefit of working so hard your busy mind has no time to catch up. If you want to build strength and fitness we also have a few yoga fusion classes that even improve cardiovascular health. We also believe yoga is for every body. No matter what shape, size, style, background, age, fitness level - there is no such thing as a “perfect yoga body” if you have a body, you can do yoga.
Try a few classes to see how we are different, there are no contracts, no sign ups, no minimums. Show up when you can, pay what you can. Simple!

We base our methods on looking at the Koshic view of the human being. Treating health issues in all 5 layers of a person for a more holistic approach to optimal whole body, mind, spirit and emotional well-being. People are often intimidated by yoga phrases and terminology, but it is quite simple. The five Kosha are just one way of breaking down the layers of a person. Breaking the layers down in this way can be an effective tool in locating problems that need to be addressed to find optimal well-being. Bee You Yoga and Wellness seeks to help a person journey through the layers of the self in a safe and supportive environment so that people can follow their path to bringing these layers into balance.

We are not sheep or cattle. Fences and boundaries were not created for us but by us. We have created boundaries to separate us by religion, race, sex, country, age... if we can find a difference, we can find a barrier. Just as parents we find it upsetting when our children fight, so too should we find it disturbing when we as children of the earth fight. It is time for us to share love not hate. If the human race wishes to evolve, we must learn from our past mistakes.

Buti yoga is a unique practice, known for it's cardio-intensive bursts of tribal dance, primal movement, and conditioning. Created by celebrity trainer Bizzie Gold, it's designed to offer a calorie-scorching, body-sculpting, and dynamic yoga practice.

The word ‘buti’ is a Marathi Indian term for “the cure to something that’s been hidden away or kept secret.” The movement involved in a Buti class is designed to help everyone develop body confidence. It will help you fall in love with your workout, break through emotional and physical barriers, and transform your body. 

Buti yoga is a physically-demanding sweat session. Yet, it’s approachable for all-levels. Just as in our regular yoga classes, you’ll begin where you are and grow at your own pace. 

In a Buti class, you can expect explosive movements, a quick pace, killer ab sequences, and lots of upbeat music - there’s nothing dainty about this practice! However, it will allow you to kick all that repetitive weight lifting, sit-ups, and elliptical work to the curb. The infectious group energy, filled with hoots, hollers, and lots of movement, will carry you through the experience. 

HOW IS BUTI UNIQUE?

In Bizzie Gold’s creation, the signature strengthening approach is called Spiral Structure Technique (SST). The major movements you’ll do in Buti are designed to activate all of the abdominal muscle groups. While most crunches and ab exercises only target the front part of the core, the reality is our abdomen is cylindrical. This method will build lean, strong muscles.

The movement involved in Buti yoga focuses on removing obstacles to our first and second chakras. The power that originates in these chakras often gets muted, resulting in tight hips and closed minds. Buti yoga follows the lead of many cultures - such as Native American and African tribes, that have dance rituals using hip and pelvic spiraling. So in Buti, you’ll sweat with intention, seeking both physical and emotional benefits.

Crazy Dog Lady

I grew up in New Zealand, the emerald paradise at the bottom of the planet. At 9 years old I had a school teacher that was wise enough to know that teaching hyper 9-year old’s yoga and meditation made her job easier. Since then I have tried every version of yoga I come across and loved them all for their differences. I have learned from so many beautiful people and love to pass on their combined wisdom. I have a full crazy life with 3 teenagers and 4 dogs (Yes, I am the crazy dog lady). I love photography, travel, SHOES, drones, throwing knives, hiking, dancing, music and most of all making people smile. I am also trained in Myofascial Release Technique and reiki and I am currently studying to become a certified yoga therapist. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with you. “The journey is the destination!” Let go and believe! Bee happy!

I classify myself as “an accidental yogi”. Any long term relationship has its ups and downs and in a particularly challenging part of my 20+ year marriage I started yoga simply as an activity to do with my wife; as something for us to do together and reconnect. Very quickly however I found deep personal meaning in my practice. I am most grateful for the fact that through yoga I have come back to a regular meditation practice. Much research has been done to suggest that regular meditation is one of the best tools which can be employed for long term happiness. I know this to be true with myself. Our lives are so busy now, so over subscribed, it is all too easy to get caught up in the stress or distraction of daily living. Through mediation I find a way to “pause my inner dialogue”. Through practice, more and more I am able to step back and observe my thoughts, feelings, and emotions rather than be ruled by them. More and more I can acknowledge that “I am not this thought” “I am not this body” “I am not this feeling”. I can observe rather than react. Through practice I am able to connect more and more with my true self, a quiet watcher behind it all. Another passenger on this journey of life. For me this is a life long study, a life long journey. One of progress, not perfection.

Accalia has been flipping around and exploring gymnastics and body movement from the moment she opened her eyes and took her first breath. Accalia is excited to help people find their own path to expression and health. Accalia loves sharing reiki and learning about new forms of healing and spirituality. Accalia is mother of wolves and can often be found snuggled with her Husky (or any other dog she stumbles on). Accalia is the youngest Certified BUTI yoga instructor and is Kidding Around Kids Yoga certified. “At the end of every storm there is a Rainbow!”

Judgment Free Zone

It is important to remember that like so many things this information is based on information first studied many centuries ago. Since then it has undergone many translations. You may find one translation that works precisely for you and your unique personality and it may be very different from what someone else finds beneficial. Try to refrain from judging one another or enforcing “your truth” on others. We need to practice more love and compassion and spend less time judging what confuses or is different. There is a different fit for every person. Just as we all have different taste in shoes we can all have different taste in yoga. Fortunately there are so many options to choose from! There is no such thing as universal acceptance and if there was the world would be boring! Welcome peace and empathy into your life over judgement and fear! Namaste peeps! Bee Happy!!!

There are no guru's, queen bees or otherwise superior beings at Bee You Yoga and Wellness. We are a gathering of people looking to share and learn from one another no matter where you are in life's journey.

Hi I'm Shelly, I'm a certified yoga teacher,  yoga therapist, Licensed Massage & Bodyworker, Y12SR leader... and the list continues for this eternal student and totally faulty human! I am not a guru or the boss. Yoga does not have hierarchy it is about people coming together to learn from each other on their journey. Everything we do at Bee You Yoga and Wellness is a suggestion for you to explore. 
Yoga philosophy is ancient, over 5000 years old. It has taken many translations & can be intimidating to start. It is important to remember that though the philosophy is ancient most of the poses were developed in the last 100 years. Yoga is not about the poses. Yoga literally means union. Union of body & mind, body & breath, to connect with your true self, with your higher power, or simply Union of all of our parts of ourselves including the parts of us that may still generate emotions of shame. The purpose of practicing yoga can be different for each individual & can change from day to day. It is important to remember the poses are simply one of the tools we use to explore and learn. We move and breath to focus on reconnecting with our physical body. This is just another tool we use to bring us into the present moment. Much of human suffering can be linked to a disconnection to present moment.
Please note that Y12SR or any of the therapies Bee You Yoga and Wellness offers are just tools, they are not a replacement for traditional therapies, medical advice or 12 step programs, however it is most effective when used together with other tools you are finding useful in your journey.
My yoga journey is a story of learning to accept the past as part of the building blocks that make me the person I am now. To find love and forgiveness for myself and my mistakes. To find gratitude in the everyday. To find time to take peaceful moments in the madness that is life with 3 kids & 4 crazy dogs. To share my journey and help others find peace, community, love and yoga.

Bee You Yoga & Wellness takes a therapeutic approach to yoga. We teach with care and purpose. We break each pose down into the reason for the pose and take out anything that isn’t anatomy sensible. We are also mindful of limitations and ready to adjust practice or give alternative options. Just as there are many styles of people we offer many styles of practice so that you can find the one that best suits you. Come fly with us in aerial, slow down in restorative, party in rock flow or simply come for a coffee and some company.
